Hytale Update Tracker - Every Early Access Patch Explained

Last updated: 2026-07-08

Hytale launched into Early Access on January 13, 2026, and the pace of updates since then has been relentless: six major updates, multiple hotfix rounds, and a weekly pre-release patch rhythm. If you took a break and came back to a different game, this tracker catches you up on what actually changed — and what it means for your builds and progression.

How Hytale Updates Work

Since Update 3, the team settled into a clear release rhythm:

  • Weekly pre-release patches for testing on a separate patchline
  • Stable updates bundled every 2-6 weeks
  • Larger "chapters" planned on top — story content drops unfolding the Cursebreaker arc in Exploration Mode

The launcher now also supports rolling back to older versions, which matters if you play with mods that haven't caught up yet.

Update 1 (January 17, 2026) - First Content Patch

Four days after launch, Update 1 focused on filling out the world:

  • New creatures added to populate the underground jungles, including dinosaurs (placeholder behaviors at first)
  • Early-game progression rebalancing
  • New avatar options: eye types, mouth options, hair colors
  • Quality-of-life fixes on top of the January 13/15 hotfixes

Update 2 (January 24, 2026) - World Gen V2 and Mining Overhaul

The biggest early shakeup for survival players:

  • World Gen V2 — a rework of world generation
  • Farming overhaul — a complete rework of how farming works
  • Mining progression changes — new tier requirements, including changes to when you can reach Adamantite
  • The Necromancy grimoire
  • New cosmetics: masks, blindfolds, more mouth options

If your material plans date from launch week, this is the patch that invalidated some of them. Double-check recipes with our Crafting Calculator and treat pre-Update-2 farming advice with suspicion.

Update 3 (February 17, 2026) - Taming and Climbing

  • Animal taming system — the long-awaited headline feature (see our Taming Guide for the full food table)
  • Custom map markers — mark your own points of interest in-game
  • Sickles as a new tool type
  • Fire spread mechanics
  • Full climbing overhaul

This update also introduced the weekly pre-release patch rhythm and announced the Cursebreaker chapter model for future story content.

Update 4 (March 26, 2026) - Blocks and Social Layer

The most social-focused update so far:

  • 500+ new blocks — about half findable or craftable in Exploration Mode, the rest (like the Sci-Fi blocksets) Creative-only for now
  • Proximity voice chat
  • Emote wheel and 7 new hairstyles
  • The new Revolve creative tool

The developers described it as a foundation update: the new blocks are the palette for future biomes and dungeons, and voice chat is the first piece of a larger social layer that will include minigames.

Update 5 (May 2026) - Server Discovery

  • Server Discovery — server owners submit their servers via the Hytale account page; manually reviewed servers appear in the new in-game discovery page
  • Simplified Chinese language support, with Dutch, Finnish, Italian and Norwegian translations opening on Crowdin
  • New mouth animations during voice chat, plus 9 new emote wheel animations
  • Game data storage restructure — non-release patchlines now use separate directories

Update 6 (Pre-Release, Ongoing)

Pre-release notes started May 28 and update weekly. Highlights so far:

  • Combat fix: melee attacks no longer connect through walls or beyond normal reach
  • World Gen V2 performance improvements (larger buffer sizes, better chunk priority)
  • Search bar for the in-game plugin list
  • Community contributors credited directly in the patch notes

The combat reach fix is worth internalizing: if your dueling habits relied on generous hitboxes, they stopped working. See our Combat Guide for fundamentals that survive patches.

What's Coming Next

Based on official communication:

  • The first chapter of the Cursebreaker arc in Exploration Mode — the key milestone defining what full release will look like
  • First Adventure Mode elements (early quests, NPCs) targeted for the second half of 2026
  • A closed console beta
  • The minigames framework

What This Means for Tool Data

Our calculators and databases are built on community data (official posts plus the Hytale Wiki). Fast-moving patches mean individual values can lag behind the live game — especially recipes and progression requirements touched by Update 2's mining overhaul. When something looks off, trust the in-game tooltip first, then check the official patch notes on hytale.com. We refresh entries as community sources stabilize.
