Taming arrived in Update 3 and quietly became one of Hytale's most loved systems. The mechanic itself is simple — the hard part is knowing which food each animal actually wants. This guide has the complete list, based on community-verified wiki data as of July 2026.

How Taming Works

The whole loop takes three steps:

• Hold the animal's favored food in your hand (each species wants one specific food)
• Look at the animal in adventure mode and press F
• Done — community testing suggests a single piece of food is usually enough

Once tamed, you can pet the animal any time: look at it with an empty hand and press F.

Where to Get Taming Foods
