Hytale Goblin Breach: How to Open One and What's Inside

Last updated: 2026-10-12

A Goblin Breach is the new world event at the center of Hytale's Chapter 1, which came with Update 7 on October 12, 2026. A short-lived portal opens somewhere in your world, and it arrives with force, so stand back. Step through it and you land in The Guttering Hollows, a goblin-held fragment of Orbis that is built anew on every visit. You get roughly 10 to 14 minutes before the Void closes in and sends you home, so a run is about loot, the elite enemies and getting out in time. This guide draws on the official Chapter I notes, the Update 7 pre-release notes and the Hytale Wiki, listed under Sources; details that only the pre-release notes gave are marked as such.

How to Start a Goblin Breach

  • When breaches start: the official notes say breaches begin after a few nights in your world, or as soon as you investigate the disturbance at the Forgotten Temple, where Chapter 1 starts.
  • Power the goblin lab: the Goblin Power Generator in the temple takes 10 Scraps. The Hytale Wiki lists breaches as possible every 30 minutes once you have used it, and the same generator powers the Goblin Tinkerer's Workbench, where the Chapter 1 gadgets are made.
  • Find the portal: search the area around you, or check the world map for it. Update 7 lets world events show up on the map, and Hunt sites get their own map icon.
  • Timing: the pre-release notes raised the shortest gap between breaches from 10 to 30 minutes, and a breach that starts to form disappears after 5 minutes if nobody comes near it. The official notes don't repeat these numbers.
  • Keep your distance: an opening breach throws nearby players back, and the ground around its spawn point is protected, so you cannot place or break blocks there. Breaking a breach no longer gives it to you as an item.

Inside The Guttering Hollows

  • What you'll meet (Official): animals to follow and trap, assassins from the Void, chests that unleash waves of enemies when you open them, and puzzles. Goblins wary of the Void run from void creatures unless they have friends nearby.
  • A fresh island each time: the fragment is generated again on every visit, sometimes with content you have not seen before. It is a floating island with a giant statue at its center, forest and ruins on the surface, and goblin settlements below.
  • The clock: a visit lasts about 10 to 14 minutes. As the Void Surge builds, the sky turns purple, more and more void creatures appear, and in the end the portal shuts and sends you back.
  • Places to visit: the Cave Crypts, home to skeletons and the Revenant Guardian; the Cave Mines, a source of metal and Scraps; the Cave Slums, where goblins live and a larger structure below often holds the Goblin Feastmaster; and the Enkindled Ruins of an older civilization. Chapter 1 Bosses covers the Feastmaster and the Revenant Guardian.
  • Chests: the pre-release notes made the chests behind a breach more rewarding, and they stay open once looted. Tier 5 chests there can hold a key back to the fragment.
  • Coffer Event: Entombed Void Fiends near the Void Anomalies underground drop Veilbound Keys. A key opens a Veilbound Coffer and starts the event. The further you get through its five waves, the bigger the payout, from Scraps and Void Crystal Shards at wave 1 up to 2–3 Voidhearts and a 30% chance of a fragment key at wave 5.
  • Veilbound items stay behind: they are lost when you leave the fragment, so use the keys before the timer runs out.
  • Hunts and Predator Sighted: the Predator Sighted event can bring the Voidtaken Grizzly, a bear with 850 health. Any Hunt behind a breach requires a Voidheart, and Hunt sites are marked on the world map with an icon of their own (Official); the pre-release notes also lowered how many can take place in one breach.

Getting More Time

Level 2 of the Portal Console adds 1 minute to your time in The Guttering Hollows. It takes 5 Voidhearts and 30 Void Crystal Shards, according to the Hytale Wiki.

Going Back

  • Fragment key: Fragment: Orbis - The Guttering Hollows opens an Ancient Gateway portal to the fragment. Craft it at the Goblin Tinkerer's Workbench from 15 Scraps, 10 Essence of the Void and 5 Iron Ingots, or take one from a Tier 5 chest inside. Portals & Fragment Keys shows how to build the gateway.
  • Or wait for the next breach: another one can open in your world once the 30-minute gap has passed.

Scraps for the Generator

Scraps come from scrap piles, goblins and the chests in The Guttering Hollows. A Shiny Scrap Pile gives up to 15, a Large Scrap Pile up to 4, and the pre-release notes let copper pickaxes mine Shiny Scrap Piles. The Chapter 1 guide covers the rest of the update, and the other Hytale guides cover bosses, benches and farming.
