Hytale Veilbound Key & Coffer Rewards

A Veilbound Key is an Epic key from Hytale's Chapter 1, which came with Update 7 on October 12, 2026. Void Fiends in The Guttering Hollows drop one each, and the key unlocks a Veilbound Coffer, a locked chest buried underground in the same fragment. The coffer pays out when the Coffer Event ends, and the further through its five waves you get, the more you take home. Keys don't survive the trip back, so spend them before your time in the fragment runs out. The numbers on this page come from the Hytale Wiki, listed under Sources; the official Update 7 notes give no figures for keys or coffers.

Where to Get Veilbound Keys

• Void Fiends: tall, armored void creatures that swing a void longsword and have 700 health, according to the Hytale Wiki. Each one drops 1 Veilbound Key, 1 Voidheart, 2 Runestone Shards and 3–4 Essence of the Void.
• Entombed Void Fiends: they wait around the Void Anomalies underground in The Guttering Hollows. Their sword swings break the blocks in their path.
• Void Fiends from the Void Surge: more void creatures arrive on the surface the longer your visit goes on. The wiki says these surge Void Fiends have used the Entombed drop list, key included, since the 0.7.0-pre.5 build.
• Getting there: The Guttering Hollows is the fragment behind a Goblin Breach, and a visit lasts roughly 10 to 14 minutes. The Goblin Breach guide covers how a breach opens and what else waits inside.
• Fighting them: Void Fiends can block your attacks, but their sword is slow, which leaves time to block or step aside.

How to Open a Veilbound Coffer

• Find a locked coffer: Veilbound Coffers generate underground in The Guttering Hollows. You can't craft one or carry one home in Exploration Mode; the wiki lists them only in the Creative Inventory.
• Use a key during the Coffer Event: a Veilbound Key unlocks a locked coffer. The official notes also mention chests behind a breach that set waves of enemies on you.
• Survive the waves: the event has five waves. When it ends, the coffer opens, and its loot matches the last wave you reached.
• Spend keys on the spot: Veilbound items are lost when you leave the fragment, so a key carried out is a key wasted. Keys stack up to 100.

What the Rewards Are For

• Voidhearts (waves 3–5): the Goblin Tinkerer's Workbench fragment recipes take 1, Portal Console level 2 takes 5, and every Hunt beyond a Goblin Breach needs one. The Voidheart guide lists every source and use.
