Hytale Voidheart: How to Get It and What It's For

Voidhearts are rare drops from void creatures in Hytale. Up to Update 6, those creatures roam the main world at night, and the Void Eye and the Void Spawn give the best odds at 15% each. Update 7, which brought Chapter 1 on October 12, 2026, moved them: the official notes say void creatures no longer appear in the Echo of Orbis at night, and the Hytale Wiki places them in The Guttering Hollows, the goblin fragment behind a Goblin Breach. The pre-release notes also made Voidhearts drop less often. Every source and use below comes from the Hytale Wiki and the official notes listed under Sources.

Where to Get Voidhearts in Update 7

These figures come from the Hytale Wiki's Update 7 pages, written during the pre-release; the official notes don't list drop rates.

• Void Fiends: the wiki lists 1 Voidheart from each, along with a Veilbound Key, 2 Runestone Shards and 6–10 Essence of the Void. Entombed Void Fiends guard the Void Anomalies underground in The Guttering Hollows, and they are the ones that carry the keys. The wiki files the Void Fiend under the Void Spawn, the creature it replaces.
• Veilbound Coffers: locked chests underground in The Guttering Hollows. Open them with Veilbound Keys during the Coffer Event; when the event ends, each coffer pays out for the wave you reached: 1 Voidheart at wave 3, 1–2 at wave 4 and 2–3 at wave 5.
• Other void creatures at Void Anomalies: Void Eye 15%, Void Spectre 5%, Void Crawler 1% and Void Larva 0.5%, one Voidheart per drop.
• The Void Surge: a visit to The Guttering Hollows lasts about 10 to 14 minutes, and more void creatures spawn the longer you stay, until the portal closes. The Void Eyes, Crawlers and Larvae that come with the surge drop nothing.
• Not the Voidtaken Grizzly: it dropped a Voidheart in an early pre-release build, but since 0.7.0-pre.5 it gives 6–10 Essence of the Void in its place, according to its wiki page. See Chapter 1 Bosses.

Where Voidhearts Dropped Before Update 7

Up to Update 6, void creatures spawned in the main world at night, which is why older guides tell you to farm after dark. The Hytale Wiki lists Void Eye 15%, Void Spawn 15%, Void Spectre 5%, Void Crawler 1% and Void Larva 0.5%. The Update 7 notes end the night spawns, so check which version your world runs before planning a farm.

What Voidhearts Are For

• Armorer's Workbench, Tier 3: 3 Voidhearts, 25 Thorium Ingots, 25 Cobalt Ingots, 40 Shadoweave Scraps and 40 Sturdy Chitin. It unlocks Adamantite armor, and before Update 7 it was the only Voidheart use you could finish in Exploration Mode. The Workbench Guide lists every bench upgrade.
• Backpack Upgrade II: 1 Voidheart, but the recipe also needs Storm Leather, which you cannot get in Exploration Mode. See the Backpack Guide.
• Mithril weapons: the Mithril Sword, Battleaxe, Daggers, Mace and Shortbow each take 1 Voidheart, and they need Storm Leather too, so they are out of reach in Exploration Mode as well.
• Hunts beyond Goblin Breaches (Update 7): Hunts on the other side of a breach now require a Voidheart, according to the official notes.
• Goblin Tinkerer's Workbench (Update 7): 1 Voidheart, 5 Void Crystal Shards and 1 Enkindled Sigil unlock its Fragment Recipes.
• Portal Console level 2 (Update 7): 5 Voidhearts and 30 Void Crystal Shards add 1 minute to your time in The Guttering Hollows.

How Many Voidhearts to Keep

• Update 6: 3, for the Armorer's Workbench. Nothing else you can craft in Exploration Mode uses them.
• Update 7: at least 6 more, 1 for the Goblin Tinkerer's Workbench and 5 for Portal Console level 2, plus what the Hunts beyond Goblin Breaches ask for.

Essence of the Void
